Training in the 3rd and 4th Days

A lot of things I have to collect today. After these two days training, I have a big picture about what our team is doing in Hong Kong. The tight schedule of training really made me exhausted, and the first thing I want to do when I went back hotel is to sack out.

The training in the morning is a piece of cake. It is about Java and we have some basic knowledge after all.(Lots of colleagues don’t know Java)  And the trainers have to demonstrate the sample again and again to make sure all the trainees understand. Some concepts are very simple, and I have known them for a long time such as Struts, Hibernate, JDBC, etc. So in the J2EE training, I always goof off. And it took trainers a very long time to demonstrate the sample, you know, J2EE project, code once test everywhere. In the morning, demonstration is not ready; I guess the training in the afternoon will be better. They can reuse the sample after all. Although I was not interested in most topics, EJB and JMS got my attention.  I discussed these topics with the trainer about the project we are developing. We compared the advantages and disadvantages of JMS and EJB. It is funny that two trainers had different opinion. One thought the EJB was better; the trifle thing would be handled by the J2EE container. The other one hated EJB and he thought we’d better manage the code by ourselves.

The training in the afternoon is no picnic.  Plenty of things I have no experience. The project we talked about is to support rather than to develop. The applications are developed. What we have to do is to add new feature or to enhance the existing function. Therefore, before we start our job, we should know how the system works. And there are a lot of workflows to go. Different applications have different architecture get different date from different data source, which is like a tongue twist. How the applications extract the date from Boston and insert them into local database, how the applications read and process the data in the local database then generate the report. Only the name of the applications will make me confused, CM2, RG, ADR, EDR, MCH, RKS, DeAM, CSR……. I hope my understanding of all these is conceptually correct at least.

According to the altitude of the IFC2, I guess the scene in the evening here is as great as the view from the peak. That is why I am still here writing all the stuff to kill time and wait the darkness falling. So hungry. So hungry. So hungry. Don’t let me down. Don’t let me down.

    2nd Day

the office in hk get a incredible view of Victory harbour. and i guess the building may be the tallest building in central. Standing in the office in the 69th floor. we can feel that the top of Bank of China(HK) is just under my feet. i will upload some pic of the view from office later. Yesterday, i surpposed to go to Mong Kok, but my partner want to see the laser show in victory harhour. So we called off the original plan, though i know that show is not fancy, hehe. The scene of Victory at night in TST, however, is always the landmark of HK. And xingxing just told me that he will come back hk on the night 12th. Maybe we will miss each other, possibly, we will meet each other in the air........
